Mark Emerson
Landscape Photographer, Educator,
Founder/Director of Northeastern EcoArt Center,
Owner of Windhorse Studio.
Mark Emerson comes to Windhorse Studio with a breadth of knowledge and experience that encompass the fine arts, the natural environment, and interdisciplinary and experiential education.
I graduated from the Maine College of Art and received my MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. While attending art school, I immersed myself in landscape photography and the questions surrounding the human relationship with the natural world. Upon completion of my fine arts education, I attended the Extended Teachers Educational Program (ETEP) through the University of Southern Maine. While in attendance of this program, I probed the experiential and interdisciplinary aspects of the Foxfire educational philosophy. Upon completion of (ETEP) I founded the Northeastern EcoArt Center (NEAC), a non profit environmental education organization. Prier to my formal education, I worked many years with Salt Magazine as an Instructor of Photography. Along with both my artistic and educational pursuits I have been a practicing Buddhist and student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and the Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche for twenty-two years.
